Custom built houses on the way for Gateways clients
The ball is rolling on three new developments to be built next year under a partnership between Gateways Support Services and Specialist Disability Accommodation partner DPN Casa Capace.
Representatives from DPN Casa Capace joined Gateways on a road trip last month to inspect the sites of the new homes in Hamlyn Heights and Clifton Springs.
They also used the trip to visit other potential sites across Geelong and the south west to create more custom homes for participants.
Among the planned homes is one in Clifton Springs that is to be built for sisters Julie, Marianne, Gloria and Margaret.
Speaking on behalf of her sisters, Julie says it was exciting to think about moving into a brand new home.
‘They had a book with pictures of the house and it is very beautiful. Me and my sisters are very excited,’ says Julie.
‘It is also close to good cafes and has good walks nearby.’
Gateways Support Services Accommodation and Specialist Support Services Manager Sean Justin says the partnership with DPN Casa Capace would give the clients supported by Gateways access to modern, custom-designed homes, to suit their individual needs.
‘The locations of the houses have also been carefully selected to keep residents connected with their local communities, which is so important to a person’s sense of wellbeing,’ Sean says.
DPN Casa Capace CEO Michael Fuller says the road trip was a wonderful opportunity to visit the purchased sites, meet some of the future residents and also get a sense of the local communities.
‘We are delighted and excited to be partnering with Gateways Support Services in providing Specialist Disability Accommodation in Victoria for Australians with disabilities,” Michael says.
‘Gateways Support Services are known for their quality of service and we are proud to have been selected to partner with Gateways to create high quality homes for the participants they support to live in.‘
Like Gateways Support Services, DPN Casa Capace is an NDIS registered and certified provider. The social impact business, whose name translates to ‘homes to enable’ was developed specifically to cater for Australians requiring architecturally designed and built SDA that meets their individual needs.
Their innovative, multi-dwelling homes for people with disabilities are the first of their kind in Australia, matching beautiful living environments with assistive technology capabilities; purposely designed with the residents in mind.
