Australian Doctors Orchestra: Music with a meaning

It’s not every day you hear a full orchestra perform in support of disability inclusion—but that’s exactly what happened when the Australian Doctors Orchestra performed in support of Gateways Support Services.
The Australian Doctors Orchestra, made up of 100 medical professionals from across the country who also happen to be classically trained musicians—gathered to share their time and talents in a truly moving performance. Led by conductor Ingrid Martin, and joined by the wonderful soloist Emily Treloar, the orchestra played to a sold-out audience of 170 people.
From the very first note, there was a quiet sense that this was going to be more than just a concert. The connection between performers and audience was unmistakable and it was one of those rare events where people didn’t just sit back and listen—they felt it.
The beauty of the music was only part of the story. Every ticket purchased, every person who came along, contributed to something bigger. All proceeds from the event will go towards the refurbishment of our Social Connect day program facilities. Inclusive spaces that help people feel welcome, supported and part of a community.
We are so grateful to the Australian Doctors Orchestra for choosing to support Gateways in this way, and to Christian College for so generously opening up their space to host the event. Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined us. Your presence helped turn this into something truly special.
