Understanding Quality And Innovation At Gateways

Simon the Manager of Quality, Innovation, and Strategy at Gateways, spoke with Milly on Bay Spotlight about our commitment to providing high-quality support for people with disabilities. This blog will highlight the key points from their conversation, making it easy to understand how Gateways works to improve the lives of our clients.

What does quality mean at Gateways?
Quality at Gateways is about providing the right support, delivered by the right people, at the right time, and in the right way This means listening to the people we support and understanding what they need. Building good relationships and communication is essential.

Quality is not just about following rules and regulations. It’s also about creating a culture within the organisation that focuses on supporting people to thrive. Every moment is an opportunity to improve and do better. The true measure of quality is how satisfied and successful the people we support feel.

How does Gateways use data?
Gateways uses data to better understand how we can best support our clients. We collect information to learn about each person’s goals, preferences, and dreams. This data helps us deliver  personalised services that truly reflect the wants and needs of each individual.

Data also allows Gateways to connect with people on a deeper level. For example, knowing a client’s favourite support worker, or their favourite recreation programs means we can work with the client to build tailored supports that take these preferences into account. Listening to clients and learning from them also means that everyone feels valued and heard.

Importantly, data is not just for looking back at what’s already happened, data can help us to predict future service needs and continuously improve service quality. This helps us identify what is working well and where they can grow.

Promoting Human Rights at Gateways
Gateways is dedicated to promoting human rights for all our clients. We believe that everyone has the right to make their own choices about their lives. We empower clients to feel confident in exercising their rights.

We see each person as more than their disability and recognise the unique strengths and contributions each individual brings to the community. We also celebrate diversity and promote acceptance in the community.

Building an inclusive community
One of Gateways’ main goals is to create a community that values and celebrates all individuals, regardless of their differences. We work hard to ensure everyone feels included and respected.

In summary, Simon’s interview highlights Gateways’ commitment to quality, data-driven support, and human rights. By focusing on these areas, Gateways aims to provide the best possible support for our clients and build a community based on respect and inclusion.
