Important Changes – Activity Costs for Camp and Recreation

Social Media Tiles Draft (1)

We want to share some important changes made by the NDIS. These changes affect how you can use your NDIS plan to pay for activity costs.

Here’s what you need to know

• In October 2024, the NDIS introduced new rules about what activities can and cannot be paid for using your NDIS plan.

• Activity costs (like entry fees, meals, or tickets) are now considered out-of-pocket expenses.

• Out of pocket expenses are costs that you will need to pay with your own money and cannot be paid using your NDIS Plan funding

How Gateways Support Services is responding

• In the past, Gateways has claimed activity costs from NDIS plans when approved in a Service Agreement.

• From January 1st, 2025, Gateways is no longer able to claim activity costs from your NDIS plan due to the new NDIS rules.

• If you need a new Service Agreement, Gateways will support you to make the necessary changes.

Support for activity payments

We know these changes may make it harder for some people to pay for activities.

To help:

• Gateways is working on an option for payments to be made in advance and over time. Details about this will be shared when activities and programs are advertised.
