Our Gateways adult clients recently went on a memorable camp and had a great time spending several days in Warburton, taking in the local sights and enjoying the fun activities it has to offer.

They kicked things off with chocolate tasting at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, then jumped into more thrilling activities like abseiling and exploring underground caves.

Darren, a client of Gateways expressed his enthusiasm for the camp, ‘It was a great camp. It was nice and warm. The staff were great. They helped me.’

He enjoyed all activities, ‘we rode bikes, fruit picking, we went in a cave. My favourite was the fruit picking. We had to fill up a bucket. We had peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots and mandarins. They were yummy.’

And when night fell, Darren’s words were ‘I shared a bedroom with my friends. Some of them snored. We went out for dinner for burgers, but I got a hot dog. It was a good camp and I met new people and made new friends.’

Shiva, a Gateways support worker joined Darren on this camp, recounting that it was ‘an absolutely enchanting camp getaway at Warburton, filled with adventure, the beauty of nature, the serenity of the forests. From cave crawling to e-bike trekking; jam making to waterfall hiking. Darren fully immersed himself in the many activities while connecting with close friends and making many new ones along the way.’
